A new documentary on TLC took a look at a 57-year old man who's spent the last 20 years with an undiagnosed skin condition, giving him the nickname that also gives the special its title. "Bubble Skin Man" (Wed., 10 p.m. ET on TLC) took viewers to Indonesia to meet Chandra Wisnu, a 57-year old father with a rare genetic condition that has seen bubble like lesions form all over his body.
Wisnu has become so uncomfortable in his own skin that he no longer looks in mirrors. He laughed when saying that when people stare at him, he says to himself that it is because he is so handsome. But Wisno doesn't go out in public usually without covering as much of his body as possible, often wearing a ski mask and sunglasses to cover his face.
Sadly, he's also told his young children that they can deny that he's their father if they are ashamed of him. It's a sad acceptance of his fate. U
nfortunately for Wisnu, while he was able to finally get a diagnosis as to what his happening with his body, it didn't come with a treatment plan or ready-made cure. Wisnu has what doctors called a severe case of neurofibromatosis type 1.
